I. Soul-winning is not one of the gifts of the Spirit.
A. It is a command.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Matthew 28:19 ESV
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
B. It is the last words Jesus spoke.
II. Soul-winning is the job for everyone
A. My job is a teacher/ I am an usher/ My calling is a prayer warrior…
B. Those are all great, but you are first a soul-winner, then you are the other position.
III. Four quick reasons we should win souls
A. Soul-winners are wise
Proverbs 11:30 ESV
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise.
1. Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost
Luke 19:10 ESV
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
2.
2 Corinthians 6:1 ESV
Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
B. Soul-winners are workers together with the Lord
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
C. Soulwinners will shine
Daniel 12:3 ESV
And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.
D. Soul-winners are happy
Psalm 126:5 ESV
Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!
Psalm 126:6 ESV
He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.
1. Taking in and giving out
IV. Four points every soul-winner needs - Success or Failure
A. Set a time to go Soul-winning
B. Take someone with you
Mark 6:7 ESV
And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.
C. Expect to bring in the harvest
Matthew 9:37 ESV
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
Matthew 9:38 ESV
therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
D. Set a goal and stick with it
Matthew 4:18 ESV
While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
Matthew 4:19 ESV
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
V. Reasons Christians don’t win souls
A. They don’t set a time
B. They don’t know how
C. They are not “soul conscious”
1. Church’s responsibility to equip the saints to spread the gospel
2. Soul-winning should be a daily walk with Christ
VI. Cast the net
A. Ask: “What is your church background?”
1. Find out what they believe
2. Give your testimony
3. We are not here to offend--we are here to win
B. Ask: “If you should die right now, do you know for sure you would go to heaven?”
C. Ask: “Could I take a moment to show you how you can know for sure?”
1. Be friendly – Be normal – Be real
VII. Use the right bait
A. Teach him that he is a sinner
Romans 3:23 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
B. Teach him he will go to hell for his sins
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
C. Teach him that the penalty for sin is death and hell, but Jesus died for him and took his hell
Romans 5:8 ESV
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
D. Teach him if he will believe and receive Christ, God will save him.
Romans 10:13 ESV
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
VIII. Drawing in the net
A. Bow your head and pray
B. He repeats after you and means it
C. Ask him to take your hand if he means business
D. YOU pray with rejoicing and confidence
IX. Keep what you catch
A. Assurance of salvation
1 John 1:8 ESV
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:9 ESV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:10 ESV
If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 2:1 ESV
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
B. Public profession of faith
Romans 10:11 ESV
For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”
Matthew 10:32 ESV
So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven,
Easy Soul-Winning
It’s as easy as A, B, C...
A. Accept
B. Believe
C. Change
Romans 10:9 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:10 ESV
For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
